It's a new me...

“It’s a new dawn, it’s a new day, it’s a new life for me.” Oh Michael Buble could not have said it any better.  Yesterday I became a new me.  I mean not literally but legally I did.  It’s crazy how you spend the first half of you life as one name but then BOOM it changes.

Smalls and I got hitched fairly unexpectedly back in November...we made the decision to not do a “BIG” wedding in March.  It is kind of crazy to think we have been married for 4 1/2 months versus 4 weeks.  So it only took these past 4 + months to finally make the legal name change...I had so many reasons to wait (1) tax reasons, (2) need some days off, (3) to cold to run around in the winter, (4) it’s crazy around the holidays, etc. The main reason is, I didn’t want to lose my name.  I loved my last name it was so cool, it was so me!!!  I mean come on “Catalina Wine Mixer”!!!! Or you walk down a grocery store dressing aisle and there it plastered on 3 middle shelves.

But I digress. Making the decision to spend the rest of your life with someone, to be connected, to be essentially one in the same is HUGE.  I am now a grown-up, I am now responsible, and I am now married. Then on top of it all there is name change for the bride...

I would have to say changing your name is not as bad as I thought it would be.  There was a lot of running around, a lot of phone calls, a lot of wait time, but fairly easy.  I mean I could suggest that they put all of the local government buildings in one spot, just for the sake of convenience, that would be magical.

So with a new name in tow, I am going to become a new me, well sort of.  I am going to take on the challenge of being a Mrs., a wife, a friend, a lover, and anything else that will get thrown into our mix.  I hope everyone is having a wonderful week.

  1. That really is a very lovely picture. And life is an adventure. Remember, "Whate'er thou art, play well thy part." It's an important key to remember in this crazy life. As women, we have many roles to fill. I think that as newlyweds and newly "big kids," we have a lot to look forward to, and a lot of wonderful things to do now.

I hope you're having a fantastic week as well!

    Cheers!
